ROMAN
REPUBLIC GOD ROMA WITH WINGED HELMET COIN PENDANT
IN 14K YELLOW GOLD
116 - 115 B.C.
This remarkable
antiquity from the early days of the Roman Republic is an excellent
example of the classic art style that dominated this magnificent ancient
empire. The coin is in exquisite condition and is a rare silver denarius featuring the helmeted bust of the symbol
of Rome, ROMA. Roma was the Roman Empire's mascot in much the same
way as the Statue of Liberty or "Lady Liberty" is for
America. Roma personified the beauty and
might of Rome and is usually depicted wearing a helmet as shown
here. The execution of art style and the youthful personality and
vitality that
this profile exudes is first rate!
This coin is classic
ancient Rome and is a superb example of ancient Roman art. The
ancient silver of the coin possesses a high luster and makes for a gorgeous and rich
contrast with the 14 karat yellow gold setting pendant setting in which it
is mounted. The ancient key pattern design in the gold wonderfully
compliments this genuine ancient coin. Of all the Roman coins
featuring Roma, we have handled, this is one of the most beautiful
examples, by far! Overall, a stunning genuine Roman antiquity from
the early Roman Empire!
The last photos shows the backside
of the pendant and the back of the coin featuring Jupiter driving a
galloping quadriga. Jupiter was considered one of the main
protectors of the Empire. This side is shown for reference but the
pendant is not meant to be worn outward on this side.
Overall diameter is 27 mm,
about the size between a U.S. quarter and 50 cent piece. The coin
itself is about the size of a U.S. penny.
