Product Description
With its magnificent detail and contrasting warm sun gold patina, this is a stunning ancient Roman bronze coin from the days of the Roman Empire just prior to the miraculous Christian conversion of emperor Constantinus Maximus, "Constantine the Great". The coin is set in a handmade 14KY gold beaded pendant setting with the reverse side showing a mint condition detailed image of SOL, the Roman sun god. He is holding up his right hand with the globe in his left. The inscription CLARITAS REIPVB translates to the "brightness of the Republic (or State)". After Constantine's conversion to Christianity, no coins displayed any of the Roman pagan deities.
This coin features superb detail and relief and would make an excellent and memorable gift for any "sun lover" or one who appreciates ancient history as well as one of Roman (Italian) descent.
